ICIEV 2026 Best Doctoral Dissertation Award

For the first time, ICIEV 2026 introduces the Best Doctoral Dissertation Award to recognize outstanding PhD research in informatics, electronics, vision and related areas. Recent PhD graduates are invited to present a summary of their dissertation at the conference (onsite in Kitakyushu or online, 21–24 December 2026).


Eligibility:

  • The dissertation must be successfully defended between 1 January 2024 and 30 October 2026.
  • The topic must fall within the scope of ICIEV.
  • Only one submission per dissertation. The PhD holder must be the presenting author.

Regarding Submission:

  • Submission Link (CMT) – select the Subject Area 'Doctoral Dissertation Award'.
  • Template: Use the IJCVSP template.
  • Length: 4–5 pages for the main text. References and the list of publications do not count toward the page limit.
  • Not blind: Please include your name, affiliation, supervisor(s), university and date of PhD defense in the manuscript.
  • The summary should include:
    • Research problem and motivation.
    • Key contributions of the dissertation.
    • Main methods and results (selected figures/tables).
    • Impact and possible future directions.
    • List of publications from the dissertation, each with a DOI or link.
  • Upload as supplementary file: proof of PhD award or defense (certificate or letter from the university), and a link to the full dissertation if publicly available.
  • Use only *.PDF format. Follow the same CMT steps as for regular papers (see Submission page).

Presentation:

  • Shortlisted candidates will give a 10-minute talk (7 min presentation + 3 min Q&A).
  • Onsite or online presentation is accepted.
  • Registration is required for shortlisted candidates (details in Registration).

Award & Benefits:

  • Winner: Best Doctoral Dissertation Award certificate, Crest, and a full-paper registration fee waiver for ICIEV 2027.
  • All shortlisted presenters: Finalist Certificate, and their names will be listed on this website.
  • Journal: Selected summaries will be invited to the open-access IJCVSP under the Short Paper category (FREE to publish & access).
  • The winner will be announced at the closing ceremony.
